As a good friend, caring person and loving woman you probably show empathy and forgiveness easily when others make mistakes.
But how about for yourself? When you make mistakes or feel less than perfect how do you treat yourself? Many of us get stuck in a cycle of self-criticism re-hashing what we think we should have done, or said, or how we aren’t good enough.
One key to exquisite self-care is to treat yourself as a "dear friend."
If your friend were in your situation, what would you say?
What would you do?
Would you repeatedly berate them?
Would you tell them all the reasons they are not good enough?
Never. You’d remind them to be patient with themselves. You’d help them see how they could improve in the future. You’d help them focus on the lesson or the growth that can be gleaned from the situation.
Today, I am asking you to try this for yourself. Be your “dearest friend.” Show yourself unconditional love and support. Talk to yourself with kindness and compassion. Be patient, be loving and always follow the "Self-Care Golden Rule!"
